Dieting is a new trend that everyone is following these days. Everyone is worried about the calories they consume. To take care of the food you eat, you should track the calories you consume. In this blog, Rubina Ratnakar suggests some ways of tracking the calorie intake of your body.

A calorie is the measure of the amount of energy needed to increase the temperature of 1kg water by 1°C. Hence we measure the food we eat in calories depicting the amount of energy we will get by eating those foods.

There are many ways by which you can count the calories you consume. There are a number of websites and apps that can be of great use. My Fitness pal, Lose it!, Fat secret, Cron-o-meter, Spark people, and Healtifyme.

Once you select the way by which you will count the calories, there are other things you need to pay attention to. One such thing is reading food labels and checking the nutrient content of the food you consume.

We would suggest you buy a digital weighing scale for your kitchen. Measure everything you eat like a bowl of rice, a bowl of soup, amount of snacks, chips, etc. Buy measuring cups and spoons for better accuracy.

Removing all the junk food in your house is an important thing when you look forward to losing weight. Look at the food labels and keep the foods that won’t disturb your diet and calorie intake.

Always keep in mind that the calorie count is not an accurate science and it may not be absolutely right. This just gives you an idea about which food contains more calories and which food contains less in comparison.

All the foods affect you in different ways so you should be very specific about the foods. 50 calories of an apple and 50 calories of French fries are not the same. Choose your foods wisely.
